A. M. Bunny grew up in London. She had no formal education but managed to go to college where she learned secretarial skills along with short-hand. Her career flourished but her relationships were all but a disaster. She married in her early twenties and had a couple children. After two divorces, numerous relationships and mixing with the underworld she decided to fictionalise her memoirs.
