R. A. Chesney
R A Chesney is a native of Scotland. A poor start in life saw him homeless and drifting from one mindless job to another turning 29 before he made it to university. Emigrating to New Zealand he revelled in the outdoor life teaching physical education Literature and fine art, while playing and coaching Rugby Union.
Settling in the beautiful Bay of Islands he painted in oils, played sports and bought land which he would sub-divide and develop as housing sections.
‘Hooligan’ which he began writing in his 70th year is his first novel. At present he is living in England with his wife and daughter. At 79 he trains daily in the local gym while teasing out the weft and warp of his next book.
