Bob Griffin

About the author

Bob Griffin lives in a quiet Cotswold village with his wife, Anne, but as a younger man he fulfilled his ambition to become a merchant navy officer and travel the world. The rich rural characters of his native West Country, interesting people and places from his travels, and a love of England’s industrial and rural heritage often provide the authentic backdrop for his storytelling.

Now a successful businessman, his company exports its products all over the world and has won the coveted Queens Award for Innovation, but Bobs relaxation from business is to write powerful, gripping novels, where the colour and imagery of words bring the book and its characters to life.

Bob Griffin & Spiffing

“When the cover arrived, it took my breath away.”

Contrary to popular advice, people do judge a book by its cover. After working so hard on The Hurdy Gurdy Man, I was very anxious about whom to trust with its all-important cover. I chose Spiffing Publishing because of the breadth and quality of their portfolio, but feared such work might be reserved for the big boys, not a debut author.

I rang and spoke in person, for I needed to know they were listeners, not talkers. They requested a brief from me; a synopsis of significant events and descriptions of character and locations, together with themes and iconic images from the story.

When the front cover proof arrived, it took my breath away, for it perfectly depicted one of the most iconic scenes. The services Spiffing provided, throughout the publishing process and beyond, was fantastic, and it was a pleasure to work with a business who gave of their best on such an individual basis. I don’t believe I could have chosen better, and I look forward to my next project with them.
