by Maggie Clive
A timeslip novel centred around the legend of the Nanteos Cup, set in Glastonbury in 1539 at the dissolution of Glastonbury Abbey and in new age 1997.
1539 A young woman who has taken shelter in the convent on Wearyall Hill is given the task of secreting the Abbey’s most treasured object to a place of safety. She hides in the forest then finds lodging with the baker and his wife in return for help with their four small children. Ned wants to build his own well and recruits two young Noviciates to help him leading to a love triangle, death and deceit.
1997 Emelia’s mother dies in a riding accident leaving her a cottage and a café in Somerset. Gradually, it unfolds that it was no accident and her own life is in danger. She is befriended by a group of young people living alternatively and by Hugh Blandford, her mother’s close friend. Through him, she meets James who has a profound effect upon her but he was the last person to see her mother alive. Can she trust him? Meanwhile, a ghostly presence is invading her life and a tragic story is unfolding in her head and spilling into her world.
